Bats live on every continent in the world except Antarctica. There are 925 different species of bats which make up almost one
quarter of the entire 4,625 known species of mammals. In Florida, 19 different species of bats inhabit homes, buildings,
man-made structures, trees, tree hollows and caves.
Large colonies may find refuge under roof tiles, in attics, chimneys or any other small gaps that may give them access to a void
in the roof or structure. A hole as small as 1/4 of an inch wide is all that is needed for a bat to squeeze through and find it's way
into your home or business. Our bat specialist are experienced in recognizing these gaps and are throughly trained to ensure
the best solution is initiated when handling these problems. Bats are extremely territorial and unless the proper steps are taken

Bat Removal Service

Inspection #1: An inspection of the entire roof or structure is performed to determine areas most susceptible to bat
infestation or colonization.

Bat Proofing: Pre-seal all areas not found to be occupied by bats which may become future entry points. These areas will
be sealed prior to the bat exclusion. Materials used will be determined by the type of roof and/or areas needed to be sealed.
All areas determined suitable for bat entry and have no existing roosting bats, shall be sealed to prevent recolonization to
other areas.

Bat Removal: An exclusion ( removal of bats using a netting mechanism ) is then performed on the areas infested with
bats, once the pre-seal is completed. Polycarbonate fine mesh is then placed over the entry/exit points which will allow all bats
to exit safely, but will be denied re-entry into the roost. The exclusion mesh is secured to the areas by materials suitable for
roofs and building structures and will not harm the roof or structure. Bats will emerge safely without being harmed or disturbed,
unlike tubes and wooden boxes or other inhumane devices. The exclusion mesh remains in place for 5 - 7 days to ensure that
all the bats have relocated safely. Exclusion time may vary depending on climate and/or weather conditions.

Inspection #2: A second inspection is made to determine a successful and complete exclusion of bats. The structure or
site is then re-evaluated for entry / exit points to avoid recolonization of bats to another area of the roof or structure.

Final Seal: Once the roost is deemed cleared of bats, then the exclusion mesh is removed and the entry / exit point is
sealed with material determined by the type of roof and/or area needed to be sealed.

Warranty: All our work is backed by a two year warranty. Warranty covers only work completed by American Bat Removal.
Warranty covers all labor and materials cost. Upon the anniversary of the expiration of the initial warranty, additional coverage
may be renewed on an annual basis. An inspection of the structure or site must be approved by an American Bat Removal
technician prior to granting an extended warranty. Warranty goes into effect only after the final balance has been paid in full.

*Any damage caused to final seal by wild animals such as rodents, squirrels, raccoons, or birds, storms, fire, vandalism or acts
of God and/or any alterations made to roof or structure by contractors such as repairs, pressure washing etc... which result
in the recolonization of bats will void the warranty.

*The completion of the final seal will prevent bats from recolonizing in the roof or structure areas which were treated, however,
bats may still fly around the areas in search of insects and/or access to the roost. American Bat Removal cannot prevent bats
from flying around.

Bat Maternity Season

No bat exclusions are allowed during this time. Mother bats breast feed their babies, removing
the mothers from the roost will cause the babies to starve to death. Bats give birth to one pup
a year, killing the babies will seriously deplete the bat population. All bats are on the protected
species list, intentionally killing or hurting them is against the law. Heavy penalties and fines of
up to $1,000.00 per bat could be implemented if charged with unlawful actions against bats.

Bat Maternity Season starts April 15th and runs through August 15th

Q: It's maternity season and I have bats, is there anything I can do?
A: Yes, this is the time to bat proof your home to keep the babies from spreading to
another area of your home. Although the maternity colony cannot be disturbed, the rest
of your house can be protected against further infestation. Young adolescent bats will
start to wander once they learn to fly. After the maternity season ends, then the colony
may be excluded.

Q: I found a baby bat on the ground, what should I do?
A: Unfortunately this is quite a common occurrence during maternity season. Baby
bats are born blind and will sometimes fall out of the roost while crawling around. There
is not much you can do for these babies. During this period in development they feed
solely on mothers milk. Mother bats locate their babies by sent and sound and will not
accept a baby that has been handled. Leaving baby bats alone is the best solution, the
mother may come looking for it when it starts calling to be fed.

On February 2, 2010, I was contacted by channel 12 news reporter John Bachman. He was interested in meeting with me to
obtain information for a news report he had been assigned to cover on bats that had infested a house in the St. James area in
Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

John Bachman, of CBS Channel 12 News reported; "To see the bats fly is a wonder of nature that you can almost set your
watch by." He watched as the Brazilian free tailed bats poured out from underneath the barrel tiles of the vacant home as the
sun began to set.

"They just start swarming out around dusk," said neighbor Michelle Botterbusch. Only this isn't nature it's right next door to
Michelle Botterbusch's house and she's had enough. "They're just nasty, and knowing that they're there is frightening. The
smell. Thinking of rabies." she said.

"The smell, well it's about the same as stale cat urine. The bats have also decorated the walls of their adopted home with
feces, and while the risk of rabies is quite small, neighbor Barry Woods, says "something needs to be done." Seeing them
come down and swooping. The sky filled with bats, it's kind of a scary situation when you first look at it." Woods, said.

The bats are fairly common here and are protected because they help control the mosquito population. They slip under the
Spanish tiles that adorn so many south Florida roofs and make themselves at home and it seems the bats are the only one's
living at the house. Neighbors say the home is in foreclosure. Even if there were someone to pay for the removal, bat expert
David Diaz, of American Bat Removal said, they'd just come back unless the house was completely bat proofed. "They are
going to stay as close as possible," Diaz said. And that means that all the nearby homeowners may also have to bat proof their
roofs, which not everyone can afford to do. " It's tedious work is what it is," Diaz said.

"So with few options, neighbors sit every night and watch the bats take off and wish they would fly far - far away." John
